PLEASE NOTE SEEDS TO STEMS IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. We have recently learned that our home insurers will not provide coverage for a small home-based business growing its own flowers. We are trying to find affordable insurance that will provide coverage. We’re so sad about this after all our hard work. We’ll update our website if and when the situation changes .
… an Urban Flower Farm
Seasonal Cut Flowers, Grown in Sooke, British Columbia.
Locally Grown Cut Flowers
Seeds to Stems Flowers is an urban flower farm 5 minutes west of Sooke Village core.
I sow, nurture, gather & wrap a pretty mix of flowers. Sustainable, seasonal & scent are the determining factors when I choose what to grow each year. The flowers I grow aren’t typically found in most florist shop bouquets. My informal, airy, hand-tied bouquets are made mostly of flowers with minimal “filler” greenery. My aim is to grow strong and healthy blooms, free from pesticides and chemicals.
From April to October, I’m open and can fulfill bouquet orders made online, via email or phone. Flowers are gathered to-order so, whenever possible, contact me least 24 hours ahead. This means I can harvest the flowers during the coolest part of the day and properly condition them which, in turn, helps to lengthen vase life.
I also offer Gift Certificates for one-time Gift Bouquets & Monthly Bouquet Subscriptions which make great gifts any time of year. If you’re getting married or holding a special event, I can also provide flower buckets for you to make your own floral arrangements.
I offer delivery for a fee to the Sooke area or you are most welcome to come to my home to pick up an order.
A generous bouquet of lovely fresh flowers, this one for our new grand baby, next one just for me …Ann
Simply stunning bouquet! Very happy with From Seeds to Stems!…Lindsay
A bouquet for my sister’s birthday was absolutely perfect! The colours and choices of flowers were some of her favourites and as a prairie girl she loved the addition of blue tinged wheat stems as an accent. The order process is simple and easy to follow. I especially liked the preview photo of our bouquet to decide whether we liked it and no question as we definitely “loved it”! Thank you very much Sharon your service and beautiful flowers were an extra special addition to the birthday celebration! (60 stems approx. & photo doesn’t show how truly lovely & big it was)...Valerie
For a recently bereaved friend, a lovely mix of colour and textures. Rosemary included for remembrance, such a lovely touch and scent. 🙏…Ann
Very efficient, responsive,
friendly and personable service!
Amazing bouquet at a great price…Dawn
The bouquet I received was absolutely beautiful! I look forward to purchasing more next year. Sharon was quick to respond to my queries and accommodated an early morning pick up…Debbie
Had a wonderful experience sending flowers to my dear friend after her surgery. Beautiful fresh bouquet! Highly recommend - I live in Chilliwack and they even delivered for me even though they do not offer a delivery service!…Linda
I was the lucky recipient. I wasn’t aware you were here in Sooke. Peeps-this lady is awesome & although she doesn’t deliver, she did anyway since they were ordered from Vancouver. They are beautiful and I love them. Thanks to you and my bestie, Pam, for always thinking of me...Brenda
YOUR FLOWER CARE GUIDE
Tips to get the most out of your locally grown blooms
Start with a clean vase and fill with fresh, cool water.
Flower stems are like straws. After they are cut they begin healing.
Cutting 2-3 cm off the stems encourages the flowers to continue to take up water.
Ensure there is no foliage below the surface of the water as this will cause a build-up of bacteria and the flowers will spoil faster.
Keep your flowers out of direct sunlight, preferably in a cool location.
Remove any wilted stems and continue to enjoy the remaining blooms.
